Over the southeastern half of Deuel county, exceptional (D4) drought conditions persisted through the end of the October. Over the northwestern half of the county, extreme (D3) drought conditions continued through the end of October. The cooperative observer at Chappell reported 0.59 inches of precipitation for October.
Wider weather episode
Abnormally dry and warm conditions continued across western and north central Nebraska in October. Drought conditions deteriorated across all of western and north central Nebraska. With the exception of moderate (D1) drought conditions in most of Sheridan County, all of western and north central Nebraska had drought conditions ranging from severe (D2) to exceptional (D4) drought by the end of October.
