Drought — Lower Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana
2022-10-25 to 2022-10-31 · Lower Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana
Event narrative
The southern portion of the parish developed into D2 drought the last week of the month after a prolonged period of minimal rainfall.
Wider weather episode
For much of September and October, many locations did not measure much more than 1 inch of rainfall, which is quite non-typical from a climatology perspective. Although October is often a dry month, normally locations see 6-8 of rain in September. That didn't happen this year. This eventually lead to D2 drought conditions for parishes surrounding Lake Pontchartrain.
