Drought — Traverse, Minnesota

2022-10-18 to 2022-10-31 · Traverse, Minnesota

Wider weather episode

Severe D2 Drought conditions began in west central Minnesota during the second half of October. The area saw a prolonged period of below-average rainfall, as much as 5 to 7 inches since August, along with average temperatures one to three degrees above normal. The National Agricultural Statistics Service showed topsoil moisture rated at 80 percent short or very short. The limited soil moisture, high winds, and harvest season sometimes created poor air quality.
