Event narrative

The State of Virginia stream gauge located on the Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg reached minor flood stage with a crest of 14.9 feet. At 13 feet, water enters home's basements near the Fredericksburg City Dock. Old Mill Park begins to flood and will be closed. Water enters a guest house located off of Caroline Street. At 14 feet, flood waters begin to reach River Road on the east side of the river. Old Mill Park Maintenance Facility is flooded.

Wider weather episode

A coastal low pressure system interacted with a warm front resulting in a widespread two to three inches of rain with localized amounts up to four inches. This resulted in numerous road closures due to high water and small streams overflowing their banks. Several river forecast points also reached minor flood stage.
