Event narrative
A mountain wave event resulted in frequent high wind gusts for parts of Juneau and Douglas that spanned just over 24 hours. Peak gusts of 64 to 71 mph were measured at the Marine Exchange station located at the AML Dock, the downtown Library, and at the Douglas Boat Harbor.
Wider weather episode
A strong northerly outflow event with strong cross barrier flow but minimal or no critical layer or inversion resulted in a mountain wave successfully forming over parts of the Juneau area.
