Heavy snow fell across portions of Yavapai County causing traffic issues on I-17 north of Camp Verde. A trained spotter at around 4,800 feet reported 9.5 inches of new snow by 630 AM on December 13. This is a significant amount for that elevation. Heavy Snow criteria for that elevation is only 4 inches.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm moved across northern Arizona from December 11 to December 13. The snow caused traffic problems on I-17 between the Verde Valley and Flagstaff.
