Mauna Kea Summit (CFHT) recorded a wind gust of 144 kts at 1:29 PM HST, Dec 19th. Web cams from the area noted several inches of snow were on the ground at this time. Roads to the summits were closed for several days.

Wider weather episode

Blizzard like conditions were seen across the summits as heavy snow and strong winds developed. Total snow accumulations neared 14 inches. There were also frequent wind gusts over 100 knots.
