What EF2 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF2 is considerable damage: roofs torn off well-built houses, mobile homes destroyed, large trees snapped or uprooted, consistent with estimated gusts of 111–135 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

This tornado crossed the Tallapoosa River from Montgomery County and into Elmore County. An impressive swath of trees were uprooted on the west side of Highway 231. The tornado continued northeastward along Jasmine Hill Road and Willow Springs Road, where several homes were damaged from falling trees. The tornado finally dissipated south of Willow Springs Road east of Ross Ridge Lane.

The wider storm

A very dynamic and deepening low pressure system moved through the Ohio Valley states on November 29-30 with a trailing cold. The air mass across Central Alabama was initially stable during the day on November 29th with surface dewpoints in the 40s and 50s. Instability increased dramatically the evening of the 29th as 60 plus surface dewpoints advected northward into Central Alabama. A QLCS developed ahead of the approaching cold front in addition to discrete thunderstorms.

Began near Man (32.4640, -86.2100).
