An EF0 tornado touched down briefly in northern King and Queen County south of Root Swamp Road. The tornado tracked north along north Root Swamp Road uprooting trees and snapping tree limbs. The tornado then tracked into Caroline county.
Wider weather episode
A combination of Tropical Depression Nicole and the approach of a cold front caused scattered severe thunderstorms which produced damaging winds and two tornadoes across portions of central and south central Virginia.
