An automated weather station 2 miles ESE of Saluda reported a minimum wind chill value of -7F at 0820 EST.

An arctic air mass moved into the region behind a cold front, providing very cold temperatures. Low temperatures on the morning of 12/24/2022 generally ranged from the upper single digits to the mid teens across the region. In addition to the cold temperatures, west wind speeds of around 15 mph sustained, with gusts up to 25 mph, were occurring simultaneously. This resulted in very low wind chill values in the early morning of 12/24/2022 that ranged from -7 degrees F to the upper single digits above zero F across the region.
