Event narrative

A man drowned on Jobos Beach in Isabela around 3:30 pm after being swept away by rip currents. Another man who was injured in the incident was transported to a hospital.

Wider weather episode

A long period northwesterly swell and choppy wind-driven seas produced large breaking waves and rough surf conditions along the northern coast of Puerto Rico during mid-January.
