Event narrative

A combination of snow and blowing snow accompanied by 75 mph wind gusts brought the closure of South Pass over the Wind River Mountains.

A second fast moving storm crossed Wyoming and brought heavy snow to the west and locally high wind to central Wyoming. The highest amount of snow recorded was 19 inches near the south entrance to Yellowstone Park. High wind and snow brought the closure of South Pass over the Wind River Mountains. The Natrona County Airport near Casper and the Lander Airport had wind gusts to 59 mph.
