Event narrative

Trained spotters on the Chilkat Peninsula, south of Haines, reported heavy wet snow fell during the day on the 25th. One measured 6 inches by 830pm and another measured 9 inches at 1127pm as it was changing to rain. Spotters the wet snow was causing branches to lean across the road and driveway. As the snow transitioned to rain there were strong wind gusts.

Wider weather episode

A frontal band moved across the northern Gulf of Alaska while there was sufficient cold air in place across the northern inner channels for quickly accumulating, very wet, snow.
