The Mesonet station ODT43 measured wind chill values at or below -20 degrees from 152AM to 552AM December 22nd and the Mesonet station NPFO3 measured wind chill values at or below -20 degrees from 548AM to 748PM December 22nd.

Wider weather episode

A strong northerly pressure gradient after the passage of an artic frontal boundary facilitated a period of extremely cold to hazardous wind chills, focused the evening of December 21st through the morning of the 22nd.
