The observer at Amasa measured 14.6 inches of lake enhanced snow during the event. Northwest winds gusting over 40 mph caused occasional whiteout conditions from the afternoon of the 23rd into the 24th.
Wider weather episode
A rapidly deepening storm system over the Upper Great Lakes produced a long-duration lake enhanced snow event across Upper Michigan from the 21st into the morning of the 26th. Blizzard conditions from lake enhanced snow and blowing snow were also reported across much of the area from the 23rd into the 24th.
