Event narrative

Snow accumulation of 1-2 inches. A woman died in a traffic accident around 7:40 AM CDT on highway 12 northeast of Fort Atkinson ,when her car crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a truck. Law enforcement determined a shallow covering of snow on the road was a factor in the crash.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance spread a swath of light snow across much of southern WI from the morning commute into the afternoon or evening. Many vehicle slide-offs and accidents occurred during the morning commute, especially over the Milwaukee Metropolitan area.
