The Grand Marais GLOS recorded storm force northwest winds throughout the period with a peak gust of 62 mph.
Wider weather episode
An intense and rapidly deepening storm system moving through the Upper Great Lakes produced high-end storm force northwest winds across much of Lake Superior from the 23rd into the 25th. A hurricane force gust of 79 mph was even recorded at Stannard Rock on the morning of the 24th.
