Event narrative
Two deaths were reported by police. Bodies were found in a parked car in a residential neighborhood in South San Francisco just before 6 p.m. Friday. It appears they were burning charcoal or a similar substance for heat ' which likely filled the car with carbon monoxide, poisoning them. Temperatures dropped into the upper 30s F to low 40s F earlier that morning. The ground was wet from rain that had fallen the previous day.

A strong cold front passed through the San Francisco Bay Area and dropped brief, heavy rain on the morning of December 1st. That night, skies cleared, winds settled down, and temperatures plummeted. Freeze warnings were issued for interior North Bay, the hills of South Bay, and interior parts of the Central Coast. Temperatures were well below normal region-wide, reaching the mid and upper 20s Fahrenheit in the coldest interior spots, and 30s along the coast and Bay Shoreline.
