A measured wind gust of 66 mph was recorded at a mesonet station located in Baiting Hollow, NY at 819 PM Local Standard Time at an elevation of 78 feet. Additionally a measured wind gust of 58 mph was recorded at a mesonet station located in Southold, NY at 605 PM Local Standard Time.

An arctic cold front passed through the region during the morning of February 3, 2023. Strong cold air advection along with a tightening pressure gradient produced high winds over Southeastern New York during the afternoon and evening hours of this day.
