Strong winds combined with snow on the ground to produce a ground blizzard.

Gusty winds developed in the wake of an Arctic cold front which brought frigid temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills to western and central North Dakota. These gusty winds combined with deep loose snow on the ground to produce a ground blizzard generally along and south of Highway 200.
