Event narrative

A light wintry mix caused slick conditions on US Route 15 in Jackson Township, Lycoming County, leading to a tractor trailer roll over in the median of the highway. This accident, and the subsequent hazmat clean-up, caused the road to be closed for more than three and a half hours. No injuries were reported.

Wider weather episode

Overrunning ahead of low pressure moving up the Ohio Valley produced a swath of light snow, sleet and freezing rain across much of central Pennsylvania during the morning and early afternoon of February 22, 2023. Although snow accumulations were generally 2 inches or less and ice accumulations were less than a quarter of an inch, it was enough to cause some travel issues.
