The Southern California Edison Station at Paradise Cove measured a peak wind gust of 81 mph.
Wider weather episode
A cold upper trough pushed into central California between the afternoon of February 21 and the early morning of February 22. A cold front associated with this trough produced strong winds throughout much of the area. Several stations in the wind prone areas of the West Side Hills and in the Mountains and Deserts of Kern County measured gusts exceeding 60 mph with a few low impact indicator stations reporting gusts above 80 mph. There were also several reports of downed trees in the San Joaquin Valley.
