An extra-large northwest swell (320-340 degrees) pushed across the island chain during the event. This generated surf of 25 to 35 feet along north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, north facing shores of Maui. Surf of 12 to 16 feet was noted along west facing shores of Big Island.
