Event narrative

Numerous reports came in from Haines the day after Christmas. Spotters reported that snow began Christmas morning and had 8 inches in town by midnight. Haines Customs reported 13 inches had fallen by 7 am on the 26th and was still getting snow, meanwhile in town reports were 6-11 inches of snow that had changed to periods of freezing rain which continued for most of the day on the 26th.

Wider weather episode

A strong front tracking over the region from south to north brought wind and snow to much of the panhandle with greatest snowfall across Haines.
