Event narrative

The Emergency Manager reported icy road conditions due to light accumulations of snow and subfreezing temperatures, particularly on secondary roadways, including Red Bud Road and East Line Street.

Following an extremely cold Christmas day, a fast-moving clipper system produced light snow in north Georgia on December 26th. Even with the dry air mass in place, the system was able to squeeze out enough moisture to make it to the surface, resulting in a dusting of snow in the higher elevations of north Georgia and reports of snow flurries as far south as the Atlanta metropolitan area.
