Event narrative

The highest snowfall totals in Calumet County included 8.5 inches in Brillion and 6.8 inches in Chilton. Winds gusted to 30 to 40 mph at times Wednesday night (2/22), causing blowing and drifting snow. The highest recorded wind speed in Calumet County was 35 mph in Forest Junction.

Wider weather episode

A long duration winter storm brought two rounds of snowfall to northeast Wisconsin from Tuesday evening (2/21) through Thursday morning (2/23). The first round of snow brought a swath of 2 to 4 inches across the region from Tuesday evening (2/21) through Wednesday morning (2/22). The second round of snow brought a swath of 6 to 12 inches from Wednesday afternoon (2/22) through Thursday morning (2/23). In addition to the snow, strong winds of 30 to 50 mph were reported during the second round of snow, causing considerable blowing and drifting of the snow.

Some of the highest snowfall totals included 12 inches near Peshtigo (Marinette Co.), 11.4 inches in Cecil (Shawano Co.), 9.6 inches in Oconto Falls (Oconto Co.), 8.5 inches in Appleton (Outagamie Co.), 8 inches in Omro (Winnebago Co.), Spread Eagle (Florence Co.), as well as Sister Bay (Door Co.), and 7.5 inches in Pulaski (Oconto Co.), Mountain (Oconto Co.), as well as Mosinee (Marathon Co.).
