Hydaburg Seaplane Base AWOS measured frequent peak gusts near or above 60 mph throughout New Years Day, with a peak of 67 knots, or 77 mph, at 544pm. The RAWS station near Thorne Bay on the opposite side of Prince of Wales Island measured a peak gust of 62 mph at 154 pm.
