At the Big Sky Field Airport AWOS (KS85), temperatures in the teens to 20s below zero and breezy winds created intermittent periods of wind chills of -40 or worse on the morning of the 30th and briefly in the early morning of the 31st. The peak wind chill of -48 was recorded at 6:55 AM on the 30th.
