Event narrative

A general 2 to 5 inches fell across the eastern portion of the county. Cocorahs reports of 5.0 inches at 1.8 ESE Montvale, 3.6 inches in Tenafly and 2.7 inches in Palisades Park were observed. A trained spotter reported 4.8 inches in River Vale and 3.8 inches at 1 NNE Begenfield.

Wider weather episode

Weak high pressure and a marginally cold air mass was locked into the northeast with blocking to the north across Eastern Canada, while low pressure over the Midwest moved east and redeveloped off the Northern Mid Atlantic coast. This led to the first widespread accumulating snowfall across the CWA.
