The majority of snow reports ranged from 4 to 5 inches across the southern portion of the county. A trained spotter reported 5.3 inches in Hartsdale, 5.0 inches in Peekskill, and 4.5 inches in Yonkers. Public reports included 5.0 inches in Armonk, 4.8 inches at 1 WSW New Rochelle, with a Cocorahs report of 5.3 inches from Armonk. Thus, just short of reaching warning criteria.
Wider weather episode
Weak high pressure and a marginally cold air mass was locked into the northeast with blocking to the north across Eastern Canada, while low pressure over the Midwest moved east and redeveloped off the Northern Mid Atlantic coast. This led to the first widespread accumulating snowfall across the CWA.
