The Spaceport America AWOS recorded a peak gust of 64 mph. Other gusts across the zone included 61 mph at the Truth or Consequences ASOS and 58 mph at a Mesonet site at the Truth or Consequences Golf Course.

A deep, broad upper low was located over the northwestern United States with an upper level jet approaching 150 knots over southern New Mexico. Extremely strong southwest winds moved through the region with a peak gust of 111 mph confirmed on the White Sands Missile Range.
