The Ada County Sheriff attributed 48 total traffic accidents to the snowfall and resulting slippery road conditions.

A deep upper level trough moved into the Intermountain West, bringing widespread precipitation during the night of January 18th. A cold front passed during the night, changing rain to snow in the Boise metropolitan area which created especially icy and slippery roads.
