Event narrative

Multiple reports measured 3.0 inches of snow in Star, Eagle, and downtown Boise from the snow storm. The Ada County Sheriff attributed 48 total traffic accidents to the snowfall and resulting slippery road conditions.

Wider weather episode

A deep upper level trough moved into the Intermountain West, bringing widespread precipitation during the night of January 18th. A cold front passed during the night, changing rain to snow in the Boise metropolitan area which created especially icy and slippery roads.
