Event narrative
A group of five tourists was swept away by rip currents at Caracoles beach in Arecibo. Three were able to swim back to the coastline. However, a father and a son drowned.
Wider weather episode
A long period northeasterly swell combined with locally generated wind waves produced confused choppy seas and large breaking waves during the first week of March.
