Multiple instances of downed trees occurred in Northern New London County. The CT Department of Highways reported a downed tree and wires with a road closure on Route 201 at Sibicky Road in Griswold, CT at 635 AM Local Standard Time. Additionally, broadcast media provided a photo confirming trees down over Lisbon Heights Road in Lisbon, CT at 706 AM Local Standard Time.

A strong low pressure system centered near the eastern Great Lakes Region continued to strengthen as it moved northeast on December 23, 2022. This brought high winds over southern Connecticut that morning as the pressure gradient tightened over the area.
