Event narrative

An EF-1 tornado began near the Oil Center area of Lafayette. Several medical buildings received significant roof damage with debris from the roofs knocking out windows in neghboring buidlings. Trees and power poles were blown down, damaging some parked cars.

Wider weather episode

As a cold front approached, a squall line developed. Additional storms sprung up in front of the squall line, and where storms merged, a few tornadoes touched down. Along the squall line, winds of 60 mph blew down trees and caused minor damage to homes.
