A strong trough quickly progressed from the Great Plains overhead on 1/19, providing ample forcing aloft to support a deepening cyclone. This cyclone trekked across the Midwest and through the Great Lakes, generating heavy snowfall across portions of northern Michigan. The highest snowfall totals were located across the eastern upper peninsula with many areas of Chippewa and Mackinac counties receiving over 10 of snow over a 12 hour period.
