Mesonet station XBYU Bayou Bienvenue recorded a thunderstorm wind gust of 46 mph or 40 knots.

Wider weather episode

A cold front associated with an occluding surface low pressure over Illinois pushed through the local waters in the early morning hours of January 19th. Along the front, thunderstorms developed into a line and began producing winds gusts in excess of 34 knots across Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne. The line of storms weakened shortly afterwards and the cold front pushed out of the waters by mid-morning.
