Several SNOTEL reports of an estimated 8 to 16 inches of new snowfall.
Wider weather episode
An upper trough pushed into central California and moved through the region on March 19. This system brought 0.75 to 1.5 inches of liquid precipitation to the Sierra Nevada, a quarter inch to an inch of rain to the Sierra foothills and a tenth to quarter inch of rain to much of the San Joaquin Valley and West Side Hills. This system cam in warmer than anticipated and the snow level ranged from 6500 to 7000 feet with this system. Several higher elevation SNOTELS in the Sierra Nevada picked up an estimated 8 to 16 inches of new snowfall.
