Event narrative

Large hail in a swath from near Raymond through the south side of Jackson. Numerous social media and broadcast media pictures showed golf ball sized hail along this swath, with several pictures showing hail stones up to the size of Easter eggs (hen eggs 2.0 inches). The largest measured stone was the size of tennis balls (2.5 inches) in southwest Jackson.

Wider weather episode

Several rounds of severe thunderstorms produced large hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes through the day on April 17th.
