Heavy snow and strong winds developed across western Minnesota in association with a classic Colorado Low type storm system around mid-day Wednesday, February 22, and snow and gusty winds lingered into the early morning hours of Thursday, February 23rd. The highest total snowfall totals included 15 inches 2 miles east southeast of Artichoke, 13 inches in Ortonville, and 11.5 inches in Wheaton. Many locations experienced peak gusts between 30 and 40 mph.
