Event narrative

An estimated 9 inches of snow fell at the Roan Plateau RAWS site with winds gusting up to 63 mph at the Pine Ridge RAWS site. Travel was impacted along Highway 139 with Douglas Pass being closed for a period during the storm.

Wider weather episode

A second, more potent storm associated with an ongoing atmospheric river event impacted the Western Slope. This resulted in widespread showers across the region with moderate to heavy snow in the mountains and some southern valleys. Wind gusts exceeded 45 mph at times in the mountains.
