Thunderstorm Wind in Giles County, Tennessee

Severe thunderstorm winds in southern Giles County caused downed tree limbs and minor shingle damage. Damages are a rough estimate.

As a strong upper-level storm system moved into the Great Plains and warm, moist southerly flow increased across the southeast United States, an early spring severe weather threat was setting up over the area. As a cold front approached from the west, a line of thunderstorms developed along it and marched across Middle Tennessee. With an abundant amount of wind shear, the thunderstorms had no problem producing severe winds across the area. Numerous wind damage reports were received primarily for areas along and west of Interstate 65. These included downed trees and power poles along with structural damage with the most significant damage occurring in Lobelville.
