Event narrative
High winds occurred across the San Gorgonio Pass mainly during the morning and early afternoon hours on February 14th. Gusts of 55-65 mph were common, along with some localized higher gusts. The Whitewater RAWS site recorded a peak wind gust to 77 mph, and the Snowcreek Canyon SoCal-Edison site recorded a peak wind gust of 72 mph.
Wider weather episode
An inslide slider storm system dove across the Western US on February 14th and 15th. This led to high winds occurring over much of the mountains and desert foothills, as well as caused snow levels to fall to around 3000-4000 feet in Southern California.
