2023-01-26 · Forest, Pennsylvania

Event narrative

A total of 2.6 inches was recorded at Marienville, and 2.3 inches fell at Tionesta.

Wider weather episode

Ripples of vorticity in a large-scale trough kept numerous snow showers falling across the Upper Ohio Valley on January 26th into the early morning hours of the 27th. Steep low-level lapse rates and strong cold advection helped to briefly enhance snow rates at times. Most accumulations were in the 1 to 5 inch range, highest in the West Virginia ridges.
