Event narrative

Generally 5 to 7 inches of snow fell across the higher elevations across the Northwest Colorado Plateau. Winds gusted up to 45 mph at times.

Wider weather episode

An abnormally cold Pacific system moved across western Colorado. A strong mid-level jet paired with increased moisture and the cold air resulted in moderate to heavy snow over the mountains and portions of the Lower Yampa River Basin in Northwest Colorado. Winds exceeded 45 mph at times which led to reduced visibility in blowing and drifting snow.
