Severe drought conditions improved to moderate drought through the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Wider weather episode

Drought continued to improve across northern and central NM during March, 2023. The area with no drought conditions increased to nearly half of the state. The areas of severe to extreme drought remained the same as the month before, entirely focused through the eastern half of the state. At month's end this included 16 percent in severe drought, of which 4 percent was in extreme drought.
