DOT Klondike Highway report noted 3 to 6 inches of snow between milepost 12 to the border with a mix of rain and snow at the time of the report. Based on timing of when rain began and ended from the Skagway airport (sea level) and temperature changes at Fraser Camp, north of the border, it is estimated that snow fell over a period of less than 12 hours.
Wider weather episode
A front moved through the region with a surge of strong southerly winds late on the 8th and into the early morning hours of Easter Sunday causing rain at sea level and high elevation snow for White Pass.
