High winds impacted the San Gorgonio Pass starting on the afternoon of February 28th and lasted overnight, with high winds continuing over into March 1st as well. A peak gust of 61 mph occurred at the Whitewater RAWS site on the 28th.
Wider weather episode
A very powerful winter storm produced additional heavy snow and high wind over portions Southern California still recovering from historic amounts of snowfall. This event eventually set multiple multi-day snowfall records, and required an extensive recovery period that lasted through March. Accumulating snow and high winds continued over into March 1st and 2nd, the totals and reports of which are reflected in a separate episode and event.
