Low pressure deepening northwest of western New York caused widespread strong winds across much of the aforementioned area. The strongest winds occurred along the cold front that swept through the area. This was a relatively short-lived high wind event. The highest wind gusts reported included 61 mph at Niagara Falls and 59 mph at Buffalo Airport, Batavia and Warsaw.
